Rio Pacuare Rafting

These are a few of the pictures from our awesome trip down the Pacuare near Turriabla, in the interior of Costa Rica. This river was no joke. I mean when we signed up we knew that it would be difficult because it is one of the top 5 rivers to raft in the world, but it was much more epic than any of us could have imagined. It was a 5 hour and 18 mile trip through Class III and IV rapids. We were stoaked because we got the raft guide, Daniel, who let our boat do way more than the other boats. We got to swim down a Class II rapid outside of the boat, jump off a fifteen foot cliff, stand as we went down rapids and do 360's down rapids as well. We saw our first Tucans, many waterfalls and probably the most beautiful and lush jungle that we have ever seen. We went through native Costa Ricans  land and through some really steep canyons. The river was moving so fast, it was crazy!!!! We had to paddle harder than I have ever in my life (as you can see in some of the pictures). We were pretty sore the next few days but it was worth all the efforts! It was one of the most rewarding things that any of us have ever done. Funny thing is that in October this river is hosting the World Championship of white water rafting. The top teams in the world compete, Brazil, Japan and the Czech Republic are fighting against the home team of Costa Rica. Later in our trip we met a guy who has been on Costa Rica's rafting team and he gave us a bunch of info on how they compete, it is hard work. We hope that Costa Rica wins this year! Overall this was an awesome way to start our trip and we are so glad that we did it! White water rafting is so much fun, maybe a new addiction!
