More of  El Centro
So it has been a while since I have posted and so much has happened. We went on a bike ride around the parks in Palermo Viejo, and everyone came out and rollerbladed! It made me think of me and Cuz in 5th grade, blading everywhere. It was great to see everyone out on a hot and sunny Sunday, and it was pretty funny to see people eat it on the cement :). We moved to our next hostel in El Centro of Buenos Aires and visited the buggest street fair ever. It was in San Telmo, the tango district, and there were hundreds of booths (see pic above). We saw some great music, a traditional tango and Amber bought an awesome ring. We were amazed with the amount of people and the cool artwork of the locals. Then we attended our first professional soccer game between La Boca Juniors (our team) and  La Arsenal. We had the time of our life with some friends we met from LA. We drank some cervezas before the game, because they dont sell any at the stadium. We could not even imagine what the games would be like if they sold beer there!!! It was cool to be a part of the fans for La Boca, we sang and cheered our asses off even though we had no idea which song they were singing. We didnt sit for the entire game and we were stoaked that our team won 2-1!!!! The players are incredibly talented and the fans are so dedicated. There were no announcers, but the live band and La 12 (the name of true La Boca fans) rang throughout the entire game. Before the game, in the area of La Boca, we went to a bar and saw a 9 person band! It made me think of you Duffy. But the coolest part was this guy who was the best soccer juggler that we have ever seen. He literally juggled to the beat of the band and did flips and stuff. It was one of the best days ever- there is so much to do here. Then the next day we slept in and walked around town to see the sites. Our favorite was a cafe founded in 1858 called Cafe Tortoni. We had coffee and dessert on marble and oak tables. The place felt so old and we were amazed that we were doing the same thing that others did a hundred and sixty years ago. The architecture in El Centro of Buenos Aires is beautiful and has a lot of Italian and French influence. That night we ate Sushi in Puerto Madero, which looks a lot like downtown San Diego. We would have had more pictures, but our first nonsense of the trip took place in our hostel. Someone came into our room and stole our camera, a key and my cologne!!! It was like the twilight zone- we have no idea how it happened. But we have moved on and are now in Uruguay! Overall, Buenos Aires was an amazing experience. We got to see all of the areas and do pretty much everything. We liked the city and plan on coming back again to see more of it in a couple of weeks. Now it is time to drink some more vino and play ping pong. Love you all and Happy Thanksgiving. Eat some turkey for us!

  1. I love reading about your adventures! The soccer game sounds amazing. Did you get your camera back? what a bummer! Can't wait to see and hear about Uruguay. Duff and I just had a pre-thanksgiving crab dinner and Nick is on his way home. What are the chances that you will eat turkey tomorrow? Love you both bunches, xoxoxoxox Julia
